Universal Pictures has released a new banner image and 5 character posters for their forthcoming animated comedy Despicable Me 2. It’s telling that all the posters released to date have featured the minions, as these are by far the favourite characters in the film.

The film sees Gru recruited by the Anti-Villain League to help deal with a powerful new super criminal.

Steve Carell is back as Gru, the evil/loveable scientist and adoptive father to 3 of the most adorable kids ever. Benjamin Bratt has replaced Al Pacino on villain duty. Also returning from the first film are directors Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud, and writers Ken Daurio and Cinco Paul.

Despicable Me 2 is out now in Irish cinemas, and it’s great!

Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment’s worldwide blockbuster, Despicable Me, delighted audiences around the globe in 2010, grossing more than $540 million and becoming the 10th-biggest animated motion picture in U.S. history. In Summer 2013, get ready for more minion madness in Despicable Me 2. Chris Meledandri and his acclaimed filmmaking team create an all-new comedy animated adventure featuring the return of Gru (Steve Carell), the girls, the unpredictably hilarious minions…and a host of new and outrageously funny characters.
