First poster for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides sails in

Walt Disney Pictures have just released the first poster for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, the fourth adventure in their flagship Pirates franchise. The poster features Johnny Deep in full regalia as the infamous Captain Jack Sparrow, with ships on fire and mermaids lurking in the background. It’s quite a nostalgic movie poster in away…very Treasure Island.

The movie is a direct sequel to Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End and finds Captain Jack Sparrow hunting for the Fountain of Youth.  Of course it’s not going to be an easy task, and when a girl from his past returns he finds himself on the Queen Anne’s Revenge, a nice ship, shame it’s run by Blackbeard.

The film stars Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, Ian McShane, Kevin R. McNally, Astrid Berges-Frisbey, Sam Claflin, and Geoffrey Rush. So lots of talent there. Hopefully it will rekindle the magic of the first one, rather than be as tired as the last two.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides opens in Ireland May 18th, 2 whole days before the US.
