Beautifully simple poster for Derek Cianfrance’s The Place Beyond the Pines

Focus Features has released a staggeringly simple and stylish poster for Derek Cianfrance’s The Place Beyond the Pines.

The film centres on two fathers, the first a circus motor-cycle stunt performer, and the second a young cop. The two are linked by an event that changes their lives and the lives of their children irrevocably.

Gosling stars as the former, with Cooper the rookie cop. Mendes plays Gosling’s love interest and mother to his son, played by Dane DeHaan. The film also features Ben Mendelsohn, Rose Byrne and Ray Liotta.

The Place Beyond the Pines previewed at the recent Jameson Dublin International Film Festival, where it was very well received. It opens nationwide on April 12th.

Luke (Ryan Gosling) is a professional motorcycle rider who turns to bank robberies to support his newborn son. But when he crosses paths with a rookie police officer (Bradley Cooper), their violent confrontation spirals into a tense generational feud. The Place Beyond the Pines is a rich dramatic thriller, tracing the intersecting lives of fathers and sons, cops and robbers, heroes and villains.
