Irish Abroad: Aoibhinn McGinnity lands US TV role in Cinemax’s Quarry

Deadline is reporting that Irish actress Aoibhinn McGinnity has signed on for a recurring role in US cable network Cinemax’s forthcoming drama series, Quarry.

Set in the 1970s, Quarry follows a Marine who returns home to Memphis after fighting in Vietnam. Once home he finds himself shunned and wrapped up in a network of killing and corruption.

McGinnity, who stars as a lead in the romantic comedy Poison Pen, and is best known to Irish audiences for her portrayal of Trish in RTÉ drama series Love/Hate, will play Marcy, starring alongside Logan Marshall-Green, Jodi Balfour, Peter Mullan, and Nikki Amuka-Bird.

Greg Yaitanes, showrunner of Cinemax’s Banshee, is behind the project, along with Steve Golin. Quarry is expected to air in the US in 2016, with filming taking place in New Orleans and Tennessee.
