Neeson and Branagh as Paisley and McGuinness in The Journey

Deadline is reporting that a number of titles are garnering attention at the Marché in Cannes. Among the titles is an intriguing sounding film, based on the Northern Ireland peace process, called The Journey.

This film sees Liam Neeson and Kenneth Branagh star as Northern Irish politicians, the late DUP leader Ian Paisley and Sinn Fein deputy leader Martin McGuinness.

The pair, who have not spoken in years, are forced to endure a car journey together. Will the journey spell trouble or sow the seeds of peace?

Alex Walton of Bloom and top Hollywood talent agency CAA are shopping the film to prospective buyers based on a promo reel. There is no word on production companies, directors, or other actor involvement as of yet.
