#Funding: Two Irish companies receive funding in latest round of Creative Europe Single Project

Two Irish companies, Zanzibar Films and Wide Eye Films, have been successful in the first round of Creative Europe Single Project funding applications for 2016.

less-than-human_posterZanzibar Films received €25,0000 for their documentary, Less than Human. The project is a partially reconstructed animated documentary and interactive virtual reality (VR) computer game. As globalization drive modern-day slavery, the story sees a migrant to Thailand trafficked and sold to the sea as a slave. Less than Human promises an immersive, interactive journey, that is at the crossroads of storytelling, journalism and the mechanics of experimental games. 102 creative documentary application were submitted from across Europe, with 17 selected for funding.

Wide Eye Films received €50,000 for their feature, Don’t Let Go. Directed by David Gleeson (Cowboys & Angels), from a script by Ronan Blaney (Boogaloo and Graham), and produced by Nathalie Lichtenthaeler (As If I’m Not There), Don’t Let Go is the story of a man who, following the tragic loss of his daughter, convinces himself he can bring her back if only he can hold onto her hand in a recurring dream. The film has previously received Development funding from both Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board and Northern Ireland Screen. Of 222 fiction applications for funding, 31 were selected.

The split of the available budget between the different genres is established according to the proportional share of the received applications: 8 animation projects; 17 creative documentaries; and 31 fiction projects.

The next SIngle Project development deadline is Thursday April 21st at 11am. More details can be found on the Creative Europe website.
