Irish Abroad: Brian O'Malley's Let Us Prey will play the Sitges Film Festival

This weekend Irish horror hits the streets of Catalonia with Let Us Prey, from director Brian O’Malley, playing at one of Europe’s iconic horror festivals, the Sitges Film Festival.

The Sitges Film Festival has attracted some of the finest horror and fantasy films from European and around the globe since its inception in 1971, with notable festival winners including Holy Motors, Blue Velvet, Oldboy, Re-Animator, and Neil Jordan’s The Company of Wolves.

Let Us Prey marks the feature debut of O’Malley, who previously worked on TV commercials. An Irish/Scottish co-production, the film tells the story of a rookie police officer who must deal with all hell breaking loose on her first nightshift in a backwater town.

Pollyanna McIntosh, last seen in the great Love Eternal, plays the lead, alongside Game Of Thrones star Liam Cunningham, Hanna Stanbridge (Outcast), and Bryan Larkin (Outlander).

Let Us Prey played Cannes and the European horror circuit, winning the Méliès d’Argent award for Best European Fantastic Film at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, before making its U.S. debut last month at Fantastic Fest in Austin.

Let Us Prey will likely be out in Ireland and the US early next year.

Rachel, a rookie cop, is about to begin her first nightshift in a neglected police station in a backwater town.   The kind of place where the tide has gone out and stranded a motley bunch of the aimless, the forgotten, the bitter-and-twisted who all think that, really, they deserve to be somewhere else.  They all think they’re there by accident and that, with a little luck, life is going to get better.   Wrong, on both counts.  Six is about to arrive – and All Hell Will Break Loose!
