The 19th Annual Newport Beach Film Festival presented by Pacific Sales will screen the West Coast’s largest celebration of Irish Cinema from April 26 - May 3, 2018 in Southern California.
Bankside Films has secured a number of international deals for Lee Cronin’s feature debut, the psychological horror The Hole in the Ground. The film stars Seána Kerslake, Kati Outinen, James Cosmo, and James Quinn Markey.
The feature film line-up for this year’s edition of the IRISH FILM FESTA, the eleventh, has been released. The festival has increased by a day, allowing for greater scope and greater variety. It runs March 21st to 25th in Rome.
The Berlinale Co-Production Market has announced the eight drama series projects selected got their “CoPro Series” pitch event. One of the eight is Irish series Costigan from Shinawil and Against the Grain,
Five Irish feature documentaries – Feargal Ward’s The Lonely Battle Of Thomas Reid, Maurice Sweeney’s I, Dolours, David Sington and Heather Walsh’s Mercury 13, Katrina Costello’s The Silver Branch, and Hannah Quinn's Smithy & Dickie will screen at the HotDocs festival in Toronto.
Two Irish/Canadian co-productions won big at the 2018 Canadian Screen Awards. Aisling Walsh's Maudie, a moving portrayal of artist Maud Lewis, won 7 awards, while Nora Twomey's The Breadwinner, the story of a girl who disguises herself as a boy to support her family in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan, won 4.
Sinead O'Shea's documentary A Mother Brings Her Son to Be Shot is set to have its international premiere at the prestigious CPH:DOX Film Festival next month, one of the largest documentary film festivals in Europe. In addition the film has been nominated for the F:ACT Award.
Italian-born Irish-resident director Nathalie Biancheri's second feature film Wolf won the Danny Lerner Grand Prix for Best Project at the 15th edition of the Sofia Meetings co-production market in Bulgaria. Produced by Jessie Fisk for Feline Films.
The 17th annual Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, revealed its feature film lineup which includes two Irish produced films, the Element Pictures-backed Disobedience and the Parallel Films-backed Mary Shelley. Both films will enjoy their U.S. premieres at the festival.
The prestigious SXSW Film Festival has announced the Features lineup for its 25th edition. 132 Features will be shown from March 9th to 18th, including Ken Wardrop's Making the Grade and Michael Tully's Don't Leave Home. Irish-filmed TV series Krypton will also world premiere.
