#Industry: Award-winning writer and producer Frank Spotnitz to give key note talk in Dublin on June 1st

Screen Training Ireland, in association with Big Light Productions Limited, is hosting a key note talk with award-winning writer and producer Frank Spotnitz, at the Radisson Blu Golden Lane Dublin on Wednesday June 1st.

Spotnitz is Chief Executive of Big Light Productions and began his 20+-year career with The X-Files. He has since executive produced and wrote several episodes of the acclaimed Amazon drama series The Man in the High Castle, based on the classic Philip K. Dick novel.  This co-production between Big Light, Scott Free, Headline and Electric Shepherd was launched in the UK, US, Germany and Austria in autumn 2015. Season 2 is currently in production.

Frank’s other credits include: Crossing Lines (Series 3), starring Goran Visjnic and Donald Sutherland; Transporter (Series 2) on TNT; Hunted, which he created for BBC1 and HBO Cinemax; Strike Back: Project Dawn; Night Stalker; Michael Mann’s Robbery Homicide Division; The Lone Gunman; Harsh Realm, and Millennium.

Spotnitz shared three Golden Globes for Best Dramatic Series and a Peabody Award for his work on The X-Files. He was also nominated for an Emmy Award for writing and three times for Outstanding Drama Series.

Frank will speak about his 20+ years’ experience of making television in Hollywood and in Europe, exploring their differences.  He will discuss the virtues of the writers’ room system, which he has made an integral part of his London-based production company Big Light, which specialises in trans-Atlantic drama series.  Frank will also talk about the role of the writer-producer in television.

Following Frank’s lecture, Malcolm Campbell (What Richard Did, The White Queen, Shameless) will interview him on his life’s work.
