Warner Bros. slick new adaptation of Red Riding Hood is almost upon us. With this in mind they have released 5 new TV spots for the movie which sees Amanda Seyfried play the titular lady in red. Thankfully there isn’t a Chris de Burgh song in here anywhere. What is here is a deeper look at the medieval setting, as well as the plot for the film.
A twist on the classic fairytale Little Red Riding Hood the movie is set in a medieval village beset by a werewolf. Valerie is a girl torn between the man she wants and cannot have, and the man her parents are forcing upon her.
The film is directed by Twilight helmer Catherine Hardwicke, and stars Gary Oldman, Billy Burke, Shiloh Fernandez, Max Irons, Virginia Madsen and Julie Christie.
The film is released in the US on March 11th, an in Ireland on April 15th.
In ‘Red Riding Hood,’ Valerie (Seyfried) is a beautiful young woman torn between two men. She is in love with a brooding outsider, Peter (Fernandez), but her parents have arranged for her to marry the wealthy Henry (Irons). Unwilling to lose each other, Valerie and Peter are planning to run away together when they learn that Valerie’s older sister has been killed by the werewolf that prowls the dark forest surrounding their village. For years, the people have maintained an uneasy truce with the best, offering the creature a monthly sacrifice. But under a blood red moon, the wolf has upped the stakes by taking a human life.
Hungry for revenge, the people call on the famed werewolf hunter, Father Solomon (Oldman), to help the kill the wolf, who takes human form by day, could be any one of them. As the death toll rises with each moon, Valerie begins to suspect that the werewolf could be someone she loves. As panic grips the town, Valerie discovers that she has a unique connection to the beast—one that inexorably draws them together, making her both suspect…and bait.
