Trailer: First look at Philip Seymour Hoffman in John Slattery's God's Pocket
US distributor IFC Films has released the first trailer for Mad Men star John Slattery’s directorial debut God’s Pocket.
The film, which marks one of the late great Philip Seymour Hoffman’s last big screen appearances, tells the story of an ordinary man who finds trouble when his stepson is killed in an accident.
Working alongside Hoffman is a stellar cast that includes Christina Hendricks, Richard Jenkins, Eddie Marsan, Caleb Landry Jones, and John Turturro.
God’s Pocket is out in Ireland later this year.
Philip Seymour Hoffman and Christina Hendricks star in this deliciously twisted comedy directed by Mad Men’s John Slattery. When Mickey’s (Hoffman) crazy stepson Leon is killed in a construction “accident,” nobody in the working class neighborhood of God’s Pocket is sorry he’s gone. Mickey tries to bury the bad news with the body, but when the boy’s mother demands the truth, Mickey finds himself stuck in a life-and-death struggle between a body he can’t bury, a wife he can’t please and a debt he can’t pay. Also stars John Turturro and Richard Jenkins.
