Watch: Crazy trailer for Jon Wright's Robot Overlords

The last time we saw Jon Wright he was behind the camera on the wonderfully inventive Irish sci-fi comedy Grabbers. Now he’s back as co-writer and director on Robot Overlords.

The film takes place in an Earth that has been conquered by robots from another galaxy and the human survivors must stay in their homes, or risk incineration.

British thespians Gillian Anderson and Sir Ben Kingsley lead this outing, alongside Callan McAuliffe, Chloe Bompas, James Tarpey, Ella Hunt, Craig Garner, Geraldine James, Tamer Hassan, Steven Mackintosh, Jonathan McAndrew, and the prolific David McSavage. Filming took place in Wales, the Isle of Man, and Northern Ireland.

Robot Overlords is out in Ireland and the UK on March 19th.

Earth has been conquered by robots from a distant galaxy; survivors are confined to their houses and must wear electronic implants, risking incineration by robot sentries if they venture outside.

In robot-occupied Britain, city centres are devastated and a gang of teenagers live in a seaside town constantly under robot threat. Intimidating sentries patrol the streets; snipers are merciless death machines. The Mediator is deceptively childlike but unnervingly coercive. The robot base is The Cube, a massive mother-ship that dominates the horizon.
