Last week we got our first real glimpse at True Grit with the teaser trailer for Joel and Ethan Coen’s remake of the 1969 classic. Today we get a look at the longer version which debuted on cinema screens in the US Friday.
The movie stars Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon, Josh Brolin and newcomer Hailee Steinfeld, and sees Bridges portray US Marshall ‘Rooster’ Cogburn (made famous by John Wayne) with Damon playing La Boeuf (Glen Campbell in the original).
This trailer shows more of both, in addition to improved action and much more plot. It also adds a nice Johnny Cash number which ties it together nicely.
True Grit opens Christmas Day in the US, with Ireland treated January 14th. Head over to Yahoo! Movies to see the trailer in HD.
Synopsis:
Fourteen-year-old Mattie Ross’s (Hailee Steinfeld) father has been shot in cold blood by the coward Tom Chaney (Josh Brolin), and she is determined to bring him to justice. Enlisting the help of a trigger-happy, drunken U.S. Marshal, Rooster Cogburn (Jeff Bridges), she sets out with him — over his objections — to hunt down Chaney. Her father’s blood demands that she pursue the criminal into Indian territory and find him before a Texas Ranger named LeBoeuf (Matt Damon) catches him and brings him back to Texas for the murder of another man.
