Industry: Legendary writing lecturer Robert McKee to present seminar in Killarney in November

Writing lecturer Robert McKee, one of the most sought after writing experts in the world, will deliver his acclaimed ‘Story’ Seminar at The Learning Resort in Killarney from November 5th to 8th, 2015.

For the past thirty years McKee has dedicated his time to educating and mentoring novelists, poets, playwrights, directors, producers, documentary makers and screenwriters internationally. McKee is distinctive among writing mentors as he believes story form can be taught. With his method, talent and hard work, writers gain insight into the truths and learn to express them through story. Attendees will learn the substance, structure, style, and principles of story. McKee encourages his students to think beyond formula and to find one’s own authentic story and voice.

McKee’s former students include over 60 Academy Award Winners, 200 Emmy Award Winners, 100 Writers Guild of America Award Winners, and 50 Directors Guild of America Award Winners. Past students also include luminaries such as John Cleese, William Goldman, Paul Haggis (Million Dollar Baby), Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings), Julia Roberts, Diane Keaton, Drew Barrymore, Drew Carey, Russell Brand, the writers of Boardwalk Empire, The Affair, Vikings, Breaking Bad, The Sopranos and Six Feet Under and the entire writing staff of Pixar.

McKee also wrote the international bestseller STORY, which has won the International Moving Image Book Award and has been translated into 20 languages. STORY is a required reading in the creative writing courses at Harvard, Yale and major universities around the world.
