Augmented Reality – Martin Maguire’s Project Archetype on display at Pálás Galway
A familiar sight on film sets, noted stills photographer Martin Maguire has a new exhibition at augmented reality installation at Pálás Galway.
The current exhibition at Pálás Galway ‘Project Archetype’ by artist and photographer Martin Maguire was commissioned by UNISCO Galway City of Film and runs until the end of December. It was launched at the recent double anniversary event celebrating 30 years of Galway Film Centre and 5 years of Galway as UNESCO City of Film.
Inspiration for the project comes from a fascination with the archetypical characters in literature, film and art throughout history and how they retain relevance today.
He has worked extensively within the Film and TV industry as a photographer creating exciting and engaging imagery for production companies. Recently he created the main image content for The Nun, the successful 2018 feature release from New Line Cinema and Warner Brothers. He also was commissioned to create new image content for Jamestown by Carnival films, the makers of Downton Abbey. His work has appeared at all the major film festivals including Cannes, Sundance, TriBeCa, Berlin and Toronto.
Martin has just recently completed a
Master of Arts in Creative Practice (Photography) at the Centre for Creative
Arts and Media and an artist residency with Druid Theatre Company.
