Warner Bros. (via Yahoo! Movies) has released a pretty awful new poster for Watchmen director Zack Snyder’s stylish take on the world’s most iconic superhero Man of Steel. The image depicts Superman in flight and is just way too blurry to be taken seriously. Perhaps if this is the base of a motion poster then it would be acceptable but as it stands it’s not good.
The first Superman movie to not include the hero’s name in the titles this is another take on the origin story and sees Clark Kent embarking on a journey of self-discovery after finding out his true identity.
Henry Cavill stars as Clark Kent/Kal El, with Michael Shannon as General Zod, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, alongside a support cast that features Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Russell Crowe, Laurence Fishbourne, Christopher Meloni, and Richard Schiff. The Dark Knight trilogy’s Christopher Nolan is overseeing the film in a producer role so that promises good things.
Man of Steel flies into Irish cinemas on June 14th.
In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.
