It seems that the success of Sherlock Holmes is dictating what Guy Ritchie does next. Previously attached to direct an adaptation of the DC Comics title Lobo, the studio, Warner Bros., is now keen to press ahead with a sequel to Holmes leaving Lobo rudderless for now.
In an interview with the LA Times producer Joel Silver confirmed that Sherlock Holmes 2 is gearing up, saying “The studio wants us and Guy to focus on making another Sherlock Holmes… So we’re trying to see if we can do something quickly with another Sherlock Holmes movie. We have some ideas and some good story points.”
The cast are all set to return with Silver confirming that “Downey loves the experience of playing Sherlock and would love to play him again, and I’d love to see him play it again. Jude and all of them will be back and it will be great.”
Rumours of Brad Pitt’s appearance as Holmes mortal nemesis Professor Moriarty refuse to go away and Silver addressed these stating that “we talked about that at one point, but you know as of right now we’re not sure what we’re going to do. We’ll see what happens.
For now it is sure that Warner Bros. sees that it has a potential franchise on it’s hands, the second for RDJ, cementing his reputation as one of the most bankable movie-stars around.
