Under the Clock

#IrishFilm: Watch the warming trailer for Clerys Clock doc Under the Clock

The trailer has been released for Colm Nicell and Garry Walsh’s new documentary feature, Under The Clock, which will be released in Irish cinemas in October.

Under The Clock tells the fascinating stories of a whole generation of people from all over Ireland whose relationships began under one of Ireland’s most iconic landmarks, the Clery’s clock. The clock has been a firm fixture on Dublin’s O’Connell Street since the 1920’s and it served as an ideal rendezvous point in the nation’s bustling capital. This iconic landmark became so popular that people began to use the phrase; “I’ll meet you under the clock”. Whether it be the romance of a first date, the joy of meeting loved ones, a nostalgic reunion of old friends or the curious excitement of a visiting tourist, “The clock” could only mean one place. For some the clock was a place where they met their first loves, others proposed marriage, city dwellers met their rural relatives and others, young and old alike, used it as a starting point to paint the town red on Dublin’s vibrant social scene.

The film is produced by Colm Nicell and Garry Walsh for Snackbox Films, the award-winning production company behind hit documentary Older Than Ireland. Adam H Stewart is Executive Producer. The film is backed by Fís Éireann / Screen Ireland.
