Has anyone seen Cameron Crowe lately? It’s been an eternity since Elizabethtown (well 5 years) and he has yet to make up for that awfulness. Good news then that it seems that he’ll step back behind the camera with a biopic of legendary singer Marvin Gaye.
It seems that Crowe has lined-up Iron Man reject Terrence Howard to play the iconic soul performer. In an interview with Deadline Howard has said: “Nothing’s been signed on paper yet. Everybody who loves music will hate me if I get this one wrong.”
Crowe has been close before on this one, before original choice Will Smith pulled out at the last moment, so it’ll be a great relief once the camera start rolling. If this fails though he’s set to start work on an adaptation of Benjamin Mee’s memoir We Bought A Zoo, a story of a family that purchased and renovated Dartmoor Wildlife Park.
Both Matt Damon and Ben Stiller have been rumoured for the lead in Zoo at one time or another and each would be able to command a pretty good draw at the box-office. Fox has scheduled a December 2011 release so things are moving quickly with this one. Whatever way Crowe ends up going it looks like the man is back.
