To celebrate the release of Lady Macbeth in Irish cinemas from the 28th of April there will be special Q&A screenings in Cinema Killarney on the 22nd of April and Light House Cinema Dublin on the 28th of April.
The film takes place in rural England in 1865. Katherine (Florence Pugh) is stifled by her loveless marriage to a bitter man twice her age, and his cold, unforgiving family. When she embarks on a passionate affair with a young worker on her husband’s estate, a force is unleashed inside her so powerful that she will stop at nothing to get what she wants.
Oscar-nominated for the short film Head Over Heels, Fodhla Cronin O’Reilly who produced the film will be in attendance at the Cinema Killarney screening which will be held in association with the Kerry Film Festival. She will take part in a Q&A after the screening with the festival’s Artistic Director Maeve McGrath as moderator. Fodhla will also be taking part in the Q&A after the Light House Cinema screening with John Maguire from the Sunday Business Post moderating the discussion.
Lady Macbeth is already a huge hit on the festival circuit, where is has picked up a host of audience and performance awards at Toronto, LFF, San Sebastian, Zurich, Glasgow and Dublin this year. Florence Pugh also received the Breakthrough Award for which both she and director William Oldroyd were nominated at this year’s Evening Standard Film Awards.
